Born and raised in rural Nova Scotia, Cat Blanchet was homeschooled and encouraged at an early age to explore her interest in art and art-making. In 2008, she began studying Fine Arts at the Nova Scotia College of Art and Design. She graduated in 2014 with a BFA majoring in painting.
Cat is interested in the clashes between domesticity and savagery. She has been making paintings and drawings that use animals as allegories for the human condition, and experimenting with formal juxtapositions of familiar subjects. In quiet chaos, reflections on our state of being may be provoked against our will.
