In her retirement, she paints full time and continues to grow the cultural footprint of her community. Her works can be found in the permanent collections of both the Cumberland Art Bank and the Cumberland Museum and Archives. She is co-founder of the Pugwash Open Air Gallery, a public outdoor installation that promotes local artists. She is an original member of the Pugwash Artist Collective and exhibits her work in both solo and group shows. The artist and her work have been featured in several publications, including books of poetry and history.\u003c\/span\u003e\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003ch2\u003eARTIST STATEMENT\u003c\/h2\u003e\n\u003cp class=\"MsoNormal\"\u003e\u003cspan\u003eI’m drawn to subject matter that tells a story. Working within the realist genre I look beyond the literal to uncover emotional and symbolic layers that bring the narrative to life. Through the act of painting — a process of heightened awareness — meanings deepen and unexpected elements emerge. These surprises fuel the work and guide its direction.
