Collection: Lynch, Andy

Andy is a retired architect who practiced in Halifax. He was born in Lunenburg in 1944.

Andy began drawing when he was a teenager. With parental encouragement, he started taking watercolour lessons at age 13. At age 15, he switched to oils and pastel in New Glasgow under MacCaskill. That same year, in high school, Andy had to make a decision between art school and architecture. He was persuaded by his principal to study in architecture and paint in his spare time. Andy continued to draw and paint through a fifty year span as an architect. As part of the practice, he drew architectural presentation renderings and continued taking art lessons. In 1968, he took his camera and sketchbook and sketched his way around the world. Andy was the architect for the Art Gallery of Nova Scotia in its move to the current location. He became a life member, board member and supporter since 1984. Andy is past chair of the Art Bank of Nova Scotia and has served on numerous juried shows and competitions.

Since his retirement in 2013, he continues to take lessons at NSCAD to pursue his life-long interest in painting and drawing.
