Collection: Amirault, Gretchen

Gretchen Amirault is a Nova Scotian artist currently working primarily in oils. She is mostly self taught, but has taken courses locally over the years. Spending a lot of time in nature either sailing, kayaking, hiking, or biking gives her a lot of inspiration and subject matter for her art. Being creative with her hands has always been a part of her life, whether working with paints or fabrics. She lives in Upper Tantallon where she has been a member of the Crossroad Artists Group for many years.
She currently exhibits her work during the Peggy’s Cove Area Festival of the Arts each summer and at the Crossroads Artists annual show each fall in Tantallon, NS. Her paintings are also shown at various galleries and venues in Nova Scotia throughout the year.

Artist Statement

In my paintings I am always trying to capture the feeling and the sense of light of the space. You will see that water and local landscapes are common elements in my work. I hope that the viewer will feel like they are right there standing in my scene.
