Artist: Andrea Pottyondy Stoffer
Born and raised in Quebec, Andrea also lived in Yukon Territory and presently calls Nova Scotia home. She studied art with the University of Southern California, Nova Scotia College of Art and Design extended studies, and has taken workshops with professional artists in Canada, the United States and Mexico. What is your biggest indulgence as an artist?
Visiting art galleries and taking in all the artwork. So stimulating!
What is important to you as an artist?
Making art that is true to myself. That’s one of my mottos.
What challenges you the most in your practice?
To let go and follow my intuition. It will take me to that sublime art zone!
What themes or symbols are important to you as an artist?
Connection is a reoccurring theme in my artwork. Like a puzzle, I put together ephemera, handmade papers and paint to create a visual story. Flowers, crows, seascapes come up often.
If you were to hang one work of art by another artist in your home, which would you choose?
I have a vast collection of original art by many Nova Scotian artists and constantly rotate the artwork.
