Artist: Rosemary Clarke Young
Bedford artist Rosemary Clarke Young studied art in Montreal and later at Barat College, Illinois, the Art Institute of Chicago, and Arizona State University. For the past 16 years, she has exhibited regularly in galleries and shows, both locally and in New Brunswick, Montreal, and Ottawa. What is your biggest indulgence as an artist?
A set of 120 Sennelier soft pastels.
What is important to you as an artist?
Feeling the inspiration I get when I start a new piece.
What challenges you the most in your practice?
Finding the time to paint when I want to.
What themes or symbols are important to you as an artist?
The play of light and shadow figures in most of my work as I love what it does to shapes and colours.
