Artist Statement
These works are a series of transfer collages I had on display at the Anna Leonowens as part of my graduate show in February of this year. They are created by gluing imagery to a large sheet, allowing it to dry overnight, and then scraping away the paper, transferring the imagery to the page. I do this layer by layer, over and over, slowly crafting the desired final image. This creates dense, mesmerizing compositions that have intense depth. Some of these works have been worked for many months, in some cases over a year. All materials used are either found or thrifted. The context of the individual collage elements are often ignored in favor of their formal qualities first and foremost. They are labours of love and I hope you appreciate them as much as I do.
