Johnson, Lynn

Lynn started to exhibit her work in the 1990's with local art groups. For many years, she concentrated on commission work and was in high demand for landscape, nature & pets. She held a booth in the Dalhousie University juried art / craft show for twelve years.

Simultaneously, she sold her art and art products in a wholesale environment, filling orders to gift shops and museums throughout the Maritimes. More recently, she has been represented by commercial galleries and continues to have solo shows as well as participate in juried group shows. 

Artist Statement

I am a painter who works primarily in acrylics. I do detail representational paintings inspired by the Maritimes – the people, places and wildlife. Through glazing techniques, I achieve a luminosity and depth of color that give warmth and light to my subjects. I find inspiration in often the simplest of things -when the light is hitting something quite ordinary to create something absolutely extraordinary, even if only for a fleeting moment. My goal is to capture these moments on canvas.
