Alex King is a painter originally from Woody Point, Newfoundland. He is a purist who paints mainly in oils and prefers to work directly in front of his subject. His subject matter consists mainly of landscape and figural work; the intent of his paintings is to evoke technical skill and sense of timelessness found in classical paintings while also holding on to characteristics of contemporary painting with his colour choices, garb of figures, etc.
