Collection: MacAleese, Jodi
Jodi is a self-taught artist who grew up in Nova Scotia and currently lives in the Annapolis Valley, where the varied landscape and the ever-changing weather inspire her creativity on a daily basis. Jodi works out of her home studio and is a member of the local Annapolis Region Community Arts Council (ARCAC.)
Jodi works primarily in watercolour and acrylic paint, and her autodidactic arts education has led her to study a wide range of styles and artistic influences. Jodi loves to capture transparent surfaces such as glass and water, and tries to soak her paintings in light.
Artist Statement
My artistic style is a blend of realism and whimsy, with a focus on how light and reflection can shape a moment in time. As an artist, I love watching people pause and then lean in to study my paintings more closely. For me, the magic of creating is in the details; how every shape and every layer of colour comes together to create a feeling that the viewer can inhabit.
