Collection: Ritchie, Christine

Christine Ritchie was born in Halifax, NS, where she taught for twenty-seven years. During that time, she took private lessons and attended every artist workshop available to her. After retirement, Christine taught art to children and adults for five years, before dedicating all of her time to her own work. She works in watercolour, acrylic, oil and mixed media, and is a frequent award winner in many local art shows and exhibitions.

Artist Statement

As a visual person, I enjoy colour and how light and shadow change colour and form, especially in the natural world. Each art work I create represents something significant for me and it is my hope that this intimacy is sensed by the viewer.

As a life-long learner, I have never been satisfied with a new skill for long and like to swap the familiar for the challenging, thus making painting exciting over and over again. Creating is food for the soul and painting feeds mine, for which I am truly grateful.
