Pat Shattuck lives in Portuguese Cove, Nova Scotia. Primarily a self-taught watercolour artist, Pat has also studied with several local artists. She has been drawing and painting since early childhood, and her subjects vary from nature and rural scenes to urban street scenes. Her work is displayed in several local venues and she also paints from commissions.
I am inspired by an admiration of the historic architecture found in the Halifax area, and by a desire to preserve this heritage through my work. I use ink with my watercolours to highlight the decorative details of the old buildings depicted in my city scenes. I find light, shadows and reflections fascinating, and endeavor to capture these aspects to bring life and movement into my paintings.
