Illius, Stephen

Stephen Illius is a Scottish abstract painter whose work explores the balance between colour, composition, and emotion. Initially trained in printmaking at Gray's School of Art in Aberdeen, Stephen has since shifted his focus to painting. His paintings are characterized by their dynamic use of space and asymmetrical designs, creating compositions that invite the viewer to engage with them on a personal level. 

 

Artist Statement

My work is intentionally open to interpretation, allowing each viewer to connect with the pieces in a unique way. I like to use vivid colours and bold shapes in order to evoke a strong emotional response all whilst trying to create, through balance, a sense of harmony.
