Collection: Soper, Denise
Originally from Newfoundland, Denise moved to Halifax in 1974 to study and received her Bachelor of Fine Arts from NSCAD University.
Working mainly in oil, Denise's work is infused with light and colour and her painterly style captures the natural and urban landscape throughout Nova Scotia and the east coast.
Denise has shown her work in solo and group exhibitions and her paintings can be found in private and corporate collections. Her work is available at the Teichert Gallery and the co-operative gallery Art 1274 Hollis, both in Halifax.
Artist Statement
My focus in painting is in translating the light, atmosphere and character into paint and when possible I enjoy working en plein air. I want my work to have a sense of place and to reflect the natural beauty of Nova Scotia and the east coast.
