Collection: Walker, Julie

Julie was born in Halifax, Nova Scotia.  She graduated in 1969 from the Nova Scotia College of Art and Design in Graphic Design.  While at the college, Julie was one of the three original artists to sell paintings on "The Fence" at the Public Gardens, in Halifax.

Julie has worked in various media, including stained glass, watercolour, original stenciling, and murals.  She is becoming renowned for her wonderful still life images.  Julie is best known for her luscious fruit paintings.  She began her career as a graphic artist and has explored many different media over the years.  For the past four years, Julie has immersed herself in the study of oil painting and has found herself returning to still life for subject matter.

Artist Statement

"I enjoy mixing the rich, bright, delicious colours of the fruit and arranging the wrinkled fabric that gives never-ending possibilities for shadows and interesting patterns that occur as the cloth twists and turns across the canvas."
