Halifax Nightfall Serene Drift

I created this painting as my response to this year's Nocturne theme, "Embodied City,” which invites us to consider what it means to inhabit and experience our bodies within urban spaces. In this work, the bridge becomes an integrated symbol of connection- linking people, places, and the rhythms of city life. At night, its illuminated structure transforms into a quiet reminder of the life, beauty, and human presence that continue to pulse through the urban landscape. The glow of the lights, reflected across the water, evokes the ways our bodies move through and interact with the city, finding meaning even in its most serene and shadowed moments.
